Brand Spanking New

We survived our first night in the hospital with a newborn.
Despite being awoken ever hour by either Bitsy or a nurse checking our vitals...we survived.
Our nurse the first night was less than ideal.
Our main concern was that she was really pushing us to give Bitsy a sugar water bottle.
We kindly reminded her that we were breastfeeding only, even after she brought the sugar water bottle back on her next visit.
Wednesday morning I was able to get a shower and feel remotely human again!
My Mother-in-law swung by the hospital to see her grand-daughter and to take Bud out for a celebratory lunch.
Bitsy & I attempted to enjoy the afternoon just the two of us.
We practiced nursing and napping.
Although the napping part was hard for me!
The hospital had decided this was the week they were going to hang photos in the hallways so all day I heard hammering.
When it was hammering it was someone coming to check my vitals just as I started to drift off or it was someone coming to ask me questions about in house photo shoots, immunizations, etc.
Needless to say, but when Bud returned and found out I'd had very little chance to rest he was irritated.
I still didn't feel as run down as I thought I would.
I think there is some kind of Mommy endorphin that kicks in once you have a baby.
It grants you the power to feel rested after a few hours rest and keeps you functioning!
Regardless of how noisy the hospital was or how pushy the night nurse had been...it all seemed worth it when I look down at her little face.
Not to mention the fact that we were going home soon made it all worth while.

I hope you all had a Blessed Wednesday!

  1. What a little doll. So glad all went well and Bitsy is finally here. Seems like ages since we met. Hope the first few nights weren't too bad. A little sweetheart makes all the sleepless nights worth it. Congratulations!

  3. Good for you for staying firm with the nurse. Some people just don't respect the decision to exclusively breastfeed. Adalee is adorable, btw.
