What We Did Wednesday- Moving!

My-oh-my it's been a whirlwind around these parts the last few weeks!
I'm so sorry about being absent last week.
It was kinda necessary though.
See when we move I become a machine.
Once everything is off the truck something clicks inside of me and I must unpack each box as quickly as possible.
I think I must be hard wired to hate boxes because here it is a week after the moving truck pulled away and there are only 3 boxes left in the house that need unpacking.
They are all in my craft room.

I don't have any pictures of the move itself as we were told we were not allowed to photograph the movers working.
Let me back up a little.
July 2011 we moved from Austin, TX to our 1st Air Force duty station in North Carolina.
We had wanted to live in military housing, but were told it could be up to a 6 month wait.
We opted to sign a short term lease with an apartment and then go month to month after that.
After about 4 months of living there we found out that the 6 month wait for housing had now grown to 12-24 months.
With a newborn in my arms, 2 dogs that needed walking 2-3 times a day (because apartments don't have back yards), and a husband that was about to leave for 3 months of training, it became apparent to us that staying in the apartment was not the best idea.
We quickly found a home closer to Bud's work and moved ourselves, with the help of some new friends.
We signed a 2 year lease in order to negotiate a lower monthly rent.
This past summer was the hottest summer ever, pretty much everywhere, and when we got a couple of our electric bills I about had a heart attack!
We even had bumped our AC up to 80ยบ in the house.
But without a single drop of shade on any part of the house from sun up to sun down it did very little to help combat the heat.
Being that we are living very strictly, money wise, we knew that we needed to find a way to move.
We contacted the military housing and found out that the wait time of 12-24 months had been reduced to 3 months.
We were excited, but had to ask if there was anyway they could give us a more specific date.
There were 21 people ahead of us on the list after all!
They asked us if we would be able to move October 1st and we said we hoped to be able to.
We put it in God's hands and started praying.
We talked with our property management and they told us they would put the house on the rental market and if someone wanted it, we would be released from our commitment.
Low and behold after showing the house 3 times the final couple signed a lease to move in October 15th.
We were responsible for 1/2 a months rent at the old home, but it meant we could for sure be in our new place October 1st!

The military paid to move us into housing, which was a huge blessing.
However, I think it was my most stressful move yet!
And I've had some stressful moves!
1. Had to fully pack up a house in 48 hours because we were notified that we WERE closing on it ON TIME, after having been told that the buyer wanted to push back the closing date.
2. Moving from Austin to here 8/9 months pregnant.
3. Moving from our apartment here to the 1st rental with a 5 week old.

This move topped them all.
The movers arrived at 9 am.
A few days prior a representative came to get an idea of how much they would need in supplies and she told me I would be AH-MAZED at how quickly 5 guys would pack up our home.
We were finally pulling out of the old house by 5pm.
We had been under the assumption that by 5pm we would be in our new place with all our stuff.
They finally finished unloading at 8pm.
I found sheets for Bitsy and got her to bed 2 hours past her bedtime.
(Let me brag really quickly, she got up 1.5 hours earlier than normal that day, she took 2-20 minute naps instead of her normal 3-4 hour nap, and she went to bed 2 hours late...the whole time she was the perfect baby, not cranky, not restless, just happy and waving at the movers saying, "Hi"! over and over and over again!  Thank you Jesus for the happy baby, only he could have made that possible).
I found our sheets and our shower curtain and towels and we proceeded to shower and crash!
Phew, makes me tired just typing it all out again.

The next morning I was up bright and early, because I realized if I wanted breakfast I had to unpack the kitchen to find it.
19 boxes were completed.
Thursday, October 4th another 32 boxes were knocked out.
Friday, October 5th I completed only 8 boxes, but that was because we had family photos scheduled for that afternoon, I can't wait to share them with y'all!
By Saturday there were only 15 boxes left to go and as I stated earlier I only have 3 left!
There area  handful in the garage, but those don't count.
It's been crazy, it's been hectic, but it's been fun and awesome too.

We already met 2 sets of neighbors and Sunday night we sat on our front porch with our duplex neighbors for 4 hours, just drinking and chatting and enjoying the company of good people!
Life is good and it can only get better!

The rest of this week will look a little different.
I haven't had a chance to read for Friday's Bad Girls of the Bible so I'll probably just come back and update you on life here!
Tomorrow though I will help you start planning for Halloween costumes by showing you the super hero cape I made and giving a few pointers on making your own!

I hope you have a Blessed Wednesday!
