Friday after work I rushed home as quick as I could to meet up with a friend who had driven down from Temple to pick me up. We were en route to Bridge City, TX within 30 minutes of me walking in the door. Our goal? Hang out with a 3rd friend. There are 4 of us. My 4 sisters whom without them I don't know what I would do. Making friends is probably one of the hardest tasks in this world. I have lucked out because up until now I have had my 3 best friends since middle school! Whenever, we get together it is a good thing. It took us about 5 hours to get to Bridge City from Austin. We stayed up late catching up and Saturday we putzed around like good friends do. Waking up, getting ready, running some errands and ultimately helping friend of a friend celebrate her birthday by crossing the border to Louisiana! We went to a casino where I lost $25, there is no shame in my game...or lack of game I guess I should say. We hit up the BOOMING (haha) nightlife of Lake Charles and the found a bar with an actual band. We witnessed an elderly couple on the dance floor and the older man was dancing to HIP HOP!!! One of my fondest memories. Arriving back to Texas late and bed even later we decided to sleep in a little and head to church at 10:30, post church and lunch at Tequila's and we were saying "goodbyes". Back on the road and home in 4-1/2 hours I am almost shell shocked at how fast our fun little weekend flew by.
I'm rambling and to many this may not make any sense, but it's a reminder to me of how these mini-vacays can be worth more than words. I learned this weekend that after 13 years of friendship we are still individuals. We still have opposing viewpoints, we still think our answer is the right answer, and we still laugh like middle schoolers! The only thing that has changed is that we love eachother more now than we did back then. Our love for eachother is one that was given to us by God to unite us as sisters!
