What you don't know is that he received two very special surprises for graduation.
For a few weeks I had been trying to decide what I, his wife, should give him as a congratulatory gift.
Finally, it hit me.
He may not be a UT graduate, but if you ask him he'll swear up and down that he bleeds burnt orange.
So I got him a fancy schmancy UT watch and to top it off I got it engraved:
Proverbs 12:24 LOVE BIZ (that's what's engraved on the watch) |
His second surprise called me about a week before graduation.
Since Bud's graduation and commissioning are only 2 weeks apart it was impossible for all the family to be here for both events.
Ultimately, Bud wanted everyone to be at the commissioning and thus only JF & myself planned to be at his graduation.
Back to said phone call.
Bud's mother called and told me that she had decided she wanted to surprise Bud and come down for 24 hours so she could see her son walk across the stage.
We plotted and planned and before I knew it, it was the Friday before graduation 2:30pm and I was getting out of work an hour early so I could meet her at our place before Bud got home.
It was so exciting to see her parked at our place when I pulled up.
She decided she would set up her laptop in the guest room and Skype call Bud after he got home.
When Bud walked in the door he put away his stuff and then the "phone" rang.
Long story short, Mama Dear didn't get the sound working right on her end and so after Bud conveyed the message she popped out of the guest room!
That evening we spent time showing her Austin....
Saturday morning was the big day.
After a long ceremony it was official!
Bud had his Bachelor of Arts in History!
He has made the two most important women in his life VERY proud!!!
I hope you all had a Blessed Tuesday!
