Bright City Lights

Capturing a night shot of the Austin Skyline.
Bud & I have been wanting to do this for quite sometime, but it's not the easiest thing in the world to capture.
Bud had to remind me a few times during this practice round that we probably wouldn't get the perfect shot our first night out.
I didn't really like that answer, but I think it finally sunk in.
First we hit up a sight nearest the city skyline to see how that would turn out....
The lights on the walking bridge combined with the lamp posts
just didn't work for me.
Bud suggested scooting down a little on the bridge away from
street light.
But I still wasn't happy.
We figured out that the cloud cover was making the night seem brighter than it actually was.
The city lights were literally reflecting off the clouds and making this a harder task than I had hoped.
So we decided to try a secondary location.
I knew I wanted to go to Zilker Park, but I wasn't sure where exactly we would shoot from.
Bud knew the perfect spot though!
Team work was vital!!!
Take 1
adjust the camera settings a little more....
Take 3
...still learning how to use this camera (and yes I know I should know by now...I've had the camera for 4 years!)
Closer to what I want....but not enough definition.
We took a few more shots and decided that we are definitely coming back on a night with 0 cloud coverage...
My favorite of the night.
We have big plans to come back to this spot May 17th (the next full moon), hopefully it'll be less cloudy.
I also would love to get a sunrise photo from this spot....hmmm...now when do I want to get up at O-Dark-Thirty?

Anyways I think this was a good example of how important it is to know that sometimes things come easy and other times they require practice in order to get the result you want.
My photography requires practice.
A lot of practice, but I have to remind myself not to give up.

I hope you all have a Blessed Tuesday!
