I find that when baking there are a few key things that make the experience a bit more enjoyable.
One...listening to my favorite radio show from back home on iHeartRadio.
And two....a charismatic audience who encourages you the entire time!

(The shirt says: "Daddy says I can't date until I'm 30" it was a gift from my father-in-law and his wife). |
Today I'm making Snicker-doodle bread.
I seriously LOVE snicker-doodle anything.
A few weeks ago I made muffins...I know I forgot to post about them, sorry!
Here is What You'll Need:
-2-1/2 cups flour
-1 teaspoon baking powder
-1/2 teaspoon salt
-2 teaspoons cinnamon
-1 cup butter, softened (not melted)
-2 cups sugar
-3 eggs
-1 teaspoon vanilla
-3/4 cup sour cream
-1 package Hershey's cinnamon chips
******
You'll also need:
-3 Tablespoons sugar
-3 teaspoons cinnamon
for the topping.
Let me preface something.
The stores around me do not sell cinnamon chips.
I had never ever heard of cinnamon chips until I decided to make this recipe.
In order to make this I ordered these from the Hershey's website.
I have been told by some friends that they have seen these before.
I hope that if you venture to take on this recipe that you won't have such a hard time finding these chips.
But if you do, just know that the end results is totally worth all the effort!
Let's get started...
Cream butter, sugar, salt and cinnamon until fluffy.
Add eggs and mix well.
Add vanilla...
...and sour cream and mix well.
Mix in flour and baking powder until well combined.
In a separate small bowl mix your 3 Tablespoons sugar and 3 teaspoons cinnamon, set aside.
Check in with your ever faithful fan base and take a moment to dance around like a fool in order to obtain a silly grin in response.
Back to the recipe...
Stir cinnamon chips into batter.
Grease your bread pans (2 of them).
Fill the pans half full.
Sprinkle with your cinnamon/sugar mix.
Place your loaves into a preheated oven of 350 degrees.
Bake for approximately 55 minutes.
Check after 40 minutes and proceed to cook at 5 minute intervals until you can insert a toothpick and remove it cleanly.
When done....cool for about 15 minutes and then transfer to a cooling rack to continue cooling.
Serve plain or with a little butter spread on a warm slice.
Drool!
I must say that I am smitten with this recipe and I'm glad I ordered 5 packages of cinnamon chips because I know I'll be making this again soon!
I hope you had a Blessed Thursday!

You know, I saw those chips at the store last week and was wondering what i could make with them, now I know! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteSure thing! I think it must just be this odd part of NC that I can't find anything that I'm looking for when I grocery shop. Oh well, I ordered 5 bags so I have 4 more in the cupboard to hold me over for either more bread or a oatmeal cinnamon raisin cookie recipe I found!
DeleteSeriously... how do you stay so slim with all of the yummy goodness you seem to make daily??!!
ReplyDeleteCould little girl be ANY cuter??! Squeeze her for me. :)
Miss Jess...I was born with a crazy metabolism. I wish I could share it with everyone, my hubby included!
DeleteP.S. I gave Bitsy a hug and told her that it was from the LOVELY Miss Jess!
Yum! I love snickerdoodle cookies more than any.other. cookie. It never occurred to me there might be other ways to get my snickerdoodle allotment. And I have seen these chips at pmost every store! I'll definitely be making this! Maybe even this weekend!
