Bible Verse Friday #12

"I love you, LORD, my strength.  The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold."~Psalm 18:1-2

How often do we run through our days taking everything on ourselves?
I'm guilty as charged.
I will bear the weight of the world on my shoulders and only once I feel overwhelmed will I come to God and tell him how weary I am.
Wouldn't it be easier if we just allowed God to be our strength,
when we start each task we should remember that we work for him.

Now of course not all meanings of strength are physical.
Many are emotional.
I've mentioned previously that November 6th was the worst day of my life.
November 8th, the second worst day.
I'm still not ready to talk about them here...but the day is coming I can feel it.
What would I have done if I had not handed that situation over to God?

Would I still be able to move?
Would I still be able to praise his name?

He is my rock, my fortress, my deliverer!
When I traveled through those dark times I took comfort in knowing God had a plan.
Whether or not I was privy to that plan was irrelevant.
Even now I am not 100% sure of his plan, but I trust that he will not give me more than I can handle.

I once met a young woman who told me:
"If he brings you to it, he'll bring you through it".

The enemy attacks often. fast. hurried. messily.
We react in the same way more often than not.
God waits for us to hand it to him.
He's ready to help us.
His word tells us that he loves us. cherishes us. plans to prosper us.
How often do we only run to him with pleading prayers?
Shouldn't we run to him with prayers of praise more frequently!

Do you have friends or family that only seem to appear when times are difficult?
How does that make you feel?
Worn out. drained. used. taken advantage of?
How different would it feel if these people came to you when times were good?
I think God wants that too.
He knows we are weak and how easily we forget, but his word reminds us to sing praise to him.
He will deliver us from the hands of the enemy.

He is our rock, fortress, deliverer, salvation, stronghold.
Praise him today!

Have a Blessed Friday!

P.S. Tomorrow will be another installment of Bridesmaid Diaries!
