Bible Verse Friday #13

"Love is patient, love is kind.  It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs."~1 Corinthians 13:4-5

Doesn't that sound like the perfect relationship?
This is the relationship God wants to have with us.
Sometimes we are blessed enough to find it with people on earth.
I know that I feel like I found this with my husband.
No.  Neither of us is perfect and occasionally one of us will be impatient or easily angered (especially if I am hungry and tired).
Occasionally we will keep record of previous wrong-doings.
We are not perfect.

But God is perfect.
He is everything that 1 Corinthians 13:4-5 says.
He patiently waits for us to come to him.
God is kind.
God can not possibly envy us for he created us and he is the almighty!
He does not boast.
His will is not to dishonor others, but for all of us to find him and find the love he so greatly bestows on us.
He is not easily angered, he may be hurt when we do wrongful things, but all he wants is for us to come back to his path of righteousness.
When we make mistakes we ask for forgiveness and he gives us that.
He doesn't remind us constantly of our wrong doings.

I pray that each of you knows that this is the relationship God wants with you.
I hope that each of you finds this kind of relationship with your significant others.
I know God wants the best for us.
I promise he will always be there for you.
If you are not in a relationship that offers you this kind of love, is there a way for you to get there?
Sometimes it starts with evaluating ourselves and making sure we have our attitudes in check.
Making sure we are not self-seeking, proud, boastful, envious, etc.
These things will make your reactions to everything skewed.
Try this....the next time something occurs between your significant other, your children, your extended family and you first reaction is any of the things that love is not, say this verse to yourself.
Take a time-out.
Re-focus on 1 Corinthians 13:4-5 and remember that God loves you in all these ways.
He expects us to follow his footsteps, thus we should try to respond to those feelings according to his will.

I hope you all had a Blessed Friday!

P.S. I'm feeling much better & I'm ready to take on the weekend and next week!
