Book #14: The Voyage of The Dawn Treader- C.S. Lewis

This is the third book in the Chronicles of Narnia Series and I know I said this about Prince Caspian, but I'm now going to say it again.  I like this book better than the first.  Actually I love this book more than either of the first two.
This is the first book where Lucy and Edward return to Narnia without Peter & Susan.
In the end of the last book Peter and Susan are told they will never return to Narnia for they are too old now.
This reminds me of the story Polar Express when we learn that the children can hear the reindeer bells, but their parents can not.  Once you reach a certain age you are no longer capable of hearing/seeing such magical things!
However, in this story Lucy and Edward end up bringing their mean-spirited cousin Eustace with them to Narnia.
This book was filled with a much more vivid adventure than anything the children have EVERY experienced.
Caspian is on a mission to find 7 of his father's friends who were cast away when Uncle Miraz (whom Caspian defeated in the last book) was in rule.
This story is filled with treacherous waters, dragons, invisible foes, magician's, water creatures, kidnappings and just about anything in between!
The last few pages have some of the strongest religious undertones and it literally made me realize how amazing C.S. Lewis's writing truly is.
I am so excited to have finished this book and can't wait to see the movie now, unfortunately I'll have to wait until it's released on DVD since I totally missed it at the theatre.
If I had to summarize this book in one sentence it would be:
A crazy dream you wish you never had to wake up from!

I hope you all had a Blessed Sunday!

  1. Sounds like a great book, however, I don't get around to reading too much these days. I do love Narnia (the movie) though, so I'm sure this would be great as well. Have a great day.

  2. I've never read any of C.S. Lewis' books. This sounds great, though. I may have to try.
