Bible Verse Friday #25

"Jesus replied, "You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind".  This is the first and greatest commandment". ~Matthew 22:37 & 38

Welcome to February, can you believe it's here already?
A month commonly associated with LOVE.
I've decided that each Friday this month, the verse I choose will relate to LOVE in different aspects of our lives.
Today...God.

God loves us.
It says so in Romans 8:38-39:
"And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love.  Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow--not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love.  No power in the sky above or in the earth below--indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord."

It is not possible for us to love God as much as he obviously loves us.
We are commanded to love him above all things and we can try our hardest, but his love is the perfect kind of love.
No matter what we do.
He loves us.
No matter what we say.
He loves us.
If we stray, for a minute, a day, or a lifetime.
He still loves us.
It is our loss if we do not return that love.

So, I ask....
How do we fulfill this greatest commandment?
What does loving God with "all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind" look like?
To me it means having a personal relationship with him.
It means keeping my heart pure and soft and not allowing others to harden it.
It means keeping my soul open to God's promptings and being prepared to do as he asks of me.
It means keeping my mind focused on opportunities to share God's love with others.
I have the ultimate relationship!
Just by having God in my life!!
When I need to vent...I can vent to him.
When I am in need...I can call to him.
When I am hurting...I can cry to him.
and better yet...when I am happy... I can thank him.
Above all though I must always praise him.

So as we venture into this month filled with heart shaped everything...
stop for a moment and think about your own heart,
soul,
and mind.
Are you giving them all to God?

I hope so!
Have a Blessed Friday!

  1. I'm so happy to have met you!
Not only do we have daughters a day apart, but my handsome man came from Kansas, too :)

I found the video of Bitsy "wishing Daddy a happy birthday," and Kayleigh sat on my lap in rapt attention, smiling and cooing at her! It was really cute :)

And you're a Christian, to boot! So glad God led me to your page today :)
