"So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples." ~John 13:34-35
It can be difficult to fathom how we are supposed to love others at times.
I think there are different levels of love.
The love you have for your significant other is different than the love you have for your parents.
The love you have for a friend varies greatly to the love you show towards strangers.
I think it's the strangers part of this love that we all get caught up on.
But we are to love everyone, stranger or not.
Ultimately, I think it boils down to having a heart like Jesus and not the eyes of mankind.
We are quick to see someone and judge them, forgetting that we know nothing of who they are or where they have been.
If Jesus were walking beside us, he'd be saddened by our quick judgement.
Oh, but wait, he is always walking beside us...
I don't think that we have to put ourselves in compromising situations, however, we should be kind and loving towards everyone.
Smiling at strangers.
Offering random acts of kindness to those in need.
And remembering that ever action we do is a direct reflection on our hearts.
We are HIS disciples and we should act like it.
It may not always be easy and at times we will still fail.
The important part is that when we fail, that we ask for forgiveness, and try harder the next time.
The situation to love others will never cease to exist.
This life is for living, and learning, and praising God!
How are you showing everyone that you are HIS disciple?
How are you loving others today?
Start with a smile, it's the gateway to a bigger heart!
I hope you all had a Blessed Friday!
