Since we moved here I've been wanting to visit the Cape Fear Botanical Gardens.
It seems like one of those tourist things.
Just up my alley!!
Finally, we made it a point to head there straight after Church this past Sunday.
We packed our lunch (we are trying to be budget conscience) and ate it in the car before heading into the gardens.
I don't think we could have chose a better day as the weather was warm, but not hot.
A cool breeze reprieved us from any discomfort.
Bitsy had fallen asleep in on the car ride from church to the gardens so we carefully placed into her stroller to continue her nap as we strolled the gardens.
The colors were so vibrant.
The flower/vine was absolutely stunning. I could picture designing an entire girls room around the colors of this picture!
I was fascinated to watch the bees flying to and fro pollinating the flowers as they go.
The trails were so peaceful.
The gardens did a wonderful job showcasing North Carolina's natural beauty.
We were sure to stop for a bit and enjoy the scenery...
....but it didn't last long, the mosquitoes were flying around us.
That's a big difference between NC and TX.
In TX we didn't have hardly any bugs to deter us from being outside.
I loved seeing all these lilies, they are among my favorite flowers.
So many colors and variaties.
These purple bell flowers were awesome!
Individually so delicate, but together they appeared much more massive.
We spent a little time on this lovely gazebo.
Bitsy woke up around this time so we figured it was a good time to snap some pictures with her.
She's bright eyed and bushy tailed after her 2 hour nap!
Time for a family portrait.
Seeing these pictures scares me.
Because before I know it she'll be walking all on her own.
I was just remember how it seems like yesterday we were cradling her head just so.
A happy baby.
And a curious baby.
She knows just how to make us smile!
Do you like their matching hairstyles?
Short and spiky?
This picture encompasses my world.
After the gardens we ran a few errands and Bitsy decided the ride home would be a good time to take another nap.
Bud carefully removed her from the car seat and brought her to his chair for a little cuddle session.
What a day.
A quick 30 minute nap for both of them in Daddy's chair is just what the doctor ordered.
I could have sat and watched them for so much longer.
Does your community have a botanical garden?
Does it have a park filled with flowers?
We don't have quite the number of public parks nearby that we had in Austin and none that are quite as serene as the gardens.
We have plans to go back to the gardens, during a different time of year, so we can see what else is in bloom!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend and that your week has been productive.
Have a Blessed Wednesday!

You would have loved to visit the nursery where I used to work!
ReplyDeleteShe is getting so big! Beautiful blue eyes too! Can't wait to have the boys make those icky cookies in the previous post :)
