Unfortunately, we didn't have the opportunity to explore anywhere this weekend.
Bud had another volunteer function that he had to be at most of Saturday and Saturday night.
The good thing about that is that it meant I had the car.
How did I use my time with the vehicle?
I drove to the nearest Sonic for HAPPY HOUR!
I can't beat the price on a Route44 Raspberry Sweet Tea...so good.
When I got home from Sonic, Bitsy was passed out in the back seat.
I very carefully removed her from the seat and even more cautiously carried her upstairs to her crib.
I gently laid her in her crib and backed away slowly.
It was my first success at transferring her from car seat to crib without her waking.
Later that afternoon I found Bitsy doing this!
Pulling up on the side of her crib could mean only one thing!
Sunday we immediately lowered her crib down a notch.
I have a feeling we'll be lowering it again very soon!
Sunday also involved Bud needing to go into work for a few hours.
They have a big mission this week and Sunday was the kick-off.
So since his absence occurred near nap-time, I put Bitsy down and I crawled into bed to do a little reading.
**Hopefully I can post the review of this book Saturday!
I was on a roll with reading this and then I hit a wall....which led to a nap....which was delicious!
Once Bud returned from work we set out to tackle a much overdue task.
Bathing the dogs.
It's time for their summer haircuts, but it's recommended that we not use the clippers on dirty hair.
So this last weekend the boys got their 1st EVER outdoor bath.
Seriously Cappy is like 12 years old, Pup is 11 and they have both always had baths inside, in the tub, with warm water.
Today they were introduced to the hose.
The task took a fraction of the time that it normally does and honestly, the boys were much better behaved than I anticipated.
He looks thrilled doesn't he?
Lather, rinse, repeat...with a 2nd dog.
Pup has more lab in him than Cappy...
He likes the water a lot more.
I love that as soon as he got wet he shook.
You could literally see each muscle prepping for the big shake while Bud hosed him down.
My husband is HOT!
Especially when he's doing all the work bathing the dogs!
Time for the last rinse.
Just so you know I'm not a horrible Mom, you can see Bitsy was watching us from in the splash free, fully shaded garage.
She loved it.
I had given her another ziplock bag full of colored water and ice cubes, so she was happily playing with that.
After the boys were all rinsed we loaded Bitsy into her stroller and took a couple laps around the neighborhood.
It was a good way for the boys to naturally air dry.
The only downside to washing the dogs is that it loosens all of their hair that they were planning to shed.
So this week has involved a few extra runs with the vacuum to keep the house MOSTLY hair free.
All in all the weekend wasn't quite what I had in mind.
It was another weekend where we didn't see anything new or experience something nifty that NC had to offer.
However, I think that this is a learning experience.
Sometimes you just have to enjoy the time with the family even if you aren't going anywhere and even if it's just tackle a few much needed chores.
So although we have plans to give the boys their sharp buzz cuts this coming weekend, Bud has also promised that we will visit the Cape Fear Botanical Gardens as well!
I can't wait to share that with y'all next week!
So what are some of the chores that you do as a family?
Would you say that you enjoy them or just endure them?
How do you think you could make them more enjoyable?
I hope you have a Blessed Wednesday!

Fur baby baths!!! Love it!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how big bitzy is getting!! Time has just flown by. Enjoy every minute of her being little.
Hugs to you, Bitz, and fur babes!
