First and Foremost...
Happy Belated Father's Day to all the awesome Dad's out there!
This year we were tight on cash so we opted to shower our Dad's with love by overloading their taste buds with sugar!
For my Dad we sent him a large container of homemade oatmeal cookies.
He said that the day he received them they had been sitting in the back of a hot postal truck all day so it was as if they were fresh from the oven.
He told me the next time I make these I should incorporate his newest addition to the recipe.
Take 1 cookie, spread chunky peanut butter on the bottom, apply 2nd cookie and enjoy an Oatmeal PB sandwich!
My husband learned this year that his Dad LOVES snicker-doodle.
SO DO I!
Know this equated to making him the most delicious snicker-doodle bread .
If you haven't made it you should.
It's sinfully delicious!
So on to how we spent Father's Day in our household.
Church was first on the list for the day.
The most wonderful thing happened.
Bud & I were both able to stay for the entire service.
We normally alternate who handles Bitsy during service.
If she get's loud during the message we head out of the auditorium until service is over.
This was technically Bud's Sunday to watch her, but it was Father's Day so I told him I had her.
She sang all during worship...if you saw her you'd think she was even raising her hands in praise.
She 'sings' and raises her hands and bounces....it's awesome!
Well here is how it went down that we were both able to stay the entire time.
After worship, Bitsy started to act tired. I swayed and rocked her and before I knew it she was passed out on me.
She slept the entire service.
AWESOME!!!
When we got home it was time for a family portrait or many...
Happy 1st Father's Day!
Daddy & Daughter.
She is so tall!
What do you think of my new haircut?
It was free!!!
A friend and I went to a ladies night hosted by a local hotel here in town.
It was basically a lot of vendors giving out samples and such.
When we walked by one booth the ladies there asked if we would be interested in haircuts or trims.
I thought they were trying to book appointments, but then they said they were doing them right then...
and the best part was they were FREE!!!
I said SURE.
My friend was like Really?!?!
Before I knew it, my hair was cut and it felt so much better!!!
Doesn't she look like she is pondering something?
Our 1st Father's Day
We love this little beauty.
After pictures we ate a quick lunch and then changed.
Our plan was to hit up the Cape Fear Nature Trail.
It's going to be part of the East Coast Gateway a paved path that will stretch from Maine to Florida.
You have probably heard of the Appalachian Trail?
Well I would feel to overwhelmed to try to to the 6ish month hike, but with the ECG we could bike Maine to Florida.
I would train for something like that.
Anyways our 'hike' that day was about 3-1/2 miles one way and then we had to turn around for the 3-1/2 miles back.
It was mostly shaded by foliage and I can't wait to go back and do that 'hike' during the fall.
How peaceful is this?
Fortunately, there was a port-a-potty on the trail.
As much as I HATE using them it was nice to have.
The look on my face is because there was a wasp in there with me!
I didn't notice him until I was about to leave and I left as quick as possible!
Thanks for capturing this Bud!
We saw anoles..
...walked over a river and through the woods.....
....saw a salamander....
And after our hike we hit up Sonic for drinks, corn dogs, and ice cream cones.
It was a splurge, but according to Bud's calorie counter he'd burned over 900 calories and he needed to replenish.
For dinner I made a Summer tomato, corn, avocado, and crab salad!
It was served on a bed of romaine lettuce.
It was delicious!
Bud had opened his present early in the day.
We got him a mousepad for his new office.
It's covered in pictures of Bitsy and one with me.
He said it was perfect and I know he meant it.
Sometimes it's more important what you did instead of how much it cost to do it.
I hope you all have a Blessed Wednesday!
