Baby Diaries #28

How far along? 37 weeks--Full Term!

Total weight gain/loss: Officially 30 lbs.

Maternity clothes? Funny story.  I attempted to put on a pair of denim maternity capris the other day only to find that I couldn't, I attempted to try a different pair of white denim maternity capris only to find that I was unable to fit into anything maternity denim.  So although I am definitely wearing maternity clothes I am no longer wearing some bottoms that I had hoped would last a wee bit longer!

Stretch marks? Still nothing and I feel so blessed!

Sleep: I've gotten over the random late night bathroom runs, but the crazy thing is that when I wake up in the morning it feels like it's definitely time to get up.  My belly feels so heavy laying on my side (I think it's just that Bitsy settles on one side during the night), even with a pillow for support that sitting up actually feels more comfortable.  Still not complaining, because I still feel like I have it easy!

Best moment this week: Hmm...not sure if this was the best moment, but it was the most memorable!  Finding out I'm already dilated to 3 cm.  I haven't felt a nesting urge or any real changes in my body.  But having confirmation that Bitsy has dropped and that we are already dilating is something that makes you realize that the time is fast approaching.  Bud & I packed our hospital bags and we think we are as ready as we can be.

Movement: She is still performing alien type moves in there and I'm still convinced she is a night owl!

Food cravings:  Nada.  I just eat when I'm hungry.  Cook what I have on my scheduled menu.  And snack accordingly.

Gender: It is still a Girl!

Labor Signs: As previously stated, Thursday's doctor's appointment indicated that we are dilated to 3 and  we are very much effaced, so according to the nurse practitioner  I could have Bitsy any day now OR I could walk around like this for weeks.

Belly Button in or out?  Belly Button....what belly button?!

What I miss: I miss sleeping on my back.  I so dislike sleeping on my side.  Not much longer though!

What I am looking forward to: The scrub cap Bud ordered should arrive tomorrow, The scrubs Bud ordered (and expedited shipping on) should arrive Tuesday by 7pm and we have another doctors appointment on Thursday (if we make it that far)!

Weekly Wisdom: Plan ahead.  I know that after the baby is born we will have family visiting and friends stopping by and I know that it all means other people will be cooking for us and bringing us food.  However, what about when it's just Bud, Myself, & Baby.  Once all those meals are eaten and there is no one left to cook for us...what should we do?  Well I have gone ahead and prepped 4 crock-pot meals for us.  I have 2 other recipes that I'd like to get made before she arrives, but we will see if there is time.  Anyways, these options will allow Bud to pull them from the freezer, thaw accordingly, and put in the crock-pot so that we have healthy dinner options!  So start planning ahead!

Your Baby in Week 37 of Pregnancy

Congratulations! You've got what is officially considered a full-term baby, even with three weeks to go. That doesn't mean she's finished growing — in fact, she's still packing on about a half pound a week (at this age, the average fetus weighs about 6.5 pounds). That makes it a little crowded in your uterus, so she’s probably not kicking as much, though she’s probably stretching, rolling a bit, and wiggling (all of which you’ll be able to feel!). Right now, your little superstar is busy rehearsing for her big debut, inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid (to get the lungs ready for that first breath), sucking his thumb (to prepare for that first suckle of milk), blinking, and turning from side to side.

Approximately 6-1/3 lbs and 19 inches long.

I hope you had a Blessed Sunday!

This week's verse to memorize:

"Teach the older men to exercise self-control, to be worthy of respect, and to live wisely.  They must have sound faith and be filled with love and patience."~ Titus 2:2
