Bible Verse Friday #36

"Teach the older men to exercise self-control, to be worthy of respect, and to live wisely.  They must have sound faith and be filled with love and patience."~ Titus 2:2

As Bud & I's impeding parental duties approach I think this verse holds much meaning.
We all have heard the phrase 'it takes a village'.
Well, it does and it should.
Surrounding yourself with people who have been there and done that are key components to learning how to and how not to do most things in your life.

When I first read Titus 2:2 it makes me think of when we are looking for our perfect spouse, ladies.
We are hoping to find a man who is sound in faith and filled with love and patience.
For a man to be this way, many times it takes an older man (his father, mentor, etc) having groomed and discipled him to be such a man.
As we prepare to have our daughter I must pray for the men who are are about to have sons or already have had sons.
I need to pray that God will instill in them the desire to be the fathers he intended them to be.
I need to pray that they will have a desire to raise their sons in such a manner that someday our Bitsy will find a man who was raised with the values and morals that we cherish so deeply.
The prayers I lay out today are prayers for a future.
Our future, our daughter's future, our future son-in-law, and on to the children that they have someday.

There is a movie coming out at the end of the month that I want to see so badly.
This movie is by the same writers as Fireproof.
Watching the trailer makes me think of Titus 2:2 and how 'the older men to exercise self-control, to be worthy of respect, and to live wisely'.

Dear Heavenly Father,

You already know who my daughter will marry.  You already know the future that lays before her.
You have prepared someone for her and in that I take comfort.  I pray Father God that you will guide Bud & I as parents to raise her so that she will make the perfect wife for someone someday.  I pray that somewhere out there, there is a father praying that you will provide his son with the perfect wife someday and that he is able to mold his son to be the perfect husband.  I pray for the father of that son, that you will give him peace.  I pray for peace for us.  We know that you are perfect and that your plan is perfect and in knowing that peace will be given.

In your name we pray, Amen!

I hope you all had a Blessed Friday!
This week's verse to memorize:

"Teach the older men to exercise self-control, to be worthy of respect, and to live wisely.  They must have sound faith and be filled with love and patience."~ Titus 2:2

  1. Even as a little
    girl, I used to
    think that there
    was a little boy
    out there, who would
someday be my husband : )
    And he was! He isn't
    perfect, but God
    decided he was perfect
    for me....and he has
    been. Love that you
    have already dreamed
    of A's hubby...so sweet.
    Like her mama : )
