Baby Diaries #45

We have an 8 month old!
We weighed Addy and she has gained another 1lb and 7 oz, putting her at 24lbs 13oz!

My baby girl has had another eventful month.
She is teething now, more than ever.
I mean seriously if she can get it to her mouth she will chew on it.
We've discovered that she likes ice cubes and in order to save my hands from freezer burn, we purchased the mesh baby bags that have a handle.
We are putting an ice cube in them and let me just say she LOVES that!
She isn't crawling quite yet, but her ability to sit is astounding to me.
She is so stable and even when she wobbles she is quick to correct enough so she doesn't topple over.
She reaches forward from a sitting position and rolls onto her belly.
Once on her belly she kicks and pushes on her toes, but still no crawling.
There have been a few times in which she has actually pulled her knee or knees under her.
At those moments Bud yells for me and I run into the living room only to find that she's sprawled out again and frustrated.
It's only a matter of time, during which there will be a lot of cheering her on!
I can not explain the joy that wells up in my heart when I hear my baby girl laugh.
When I perform a task that encourages her laughter I will continue to repeat that task over and over until the laughter fizzles.
Just the other night I was tossing her teething ring up in the air and catching it between my hands.
Each time I caught it there was a clapping sound.
Upon hearing that sound, Bitsy let out a laugh that just encouraged me to keep tossing and catching, tossing and catching.
The laughter continued.
After a little over 5 minutes of this, Bud suggested I stop.
Bitsy was tired and he was afraid the laughter would turn if we pushed her to far.
Oh those sweet baby belly laughs!
In the past few days Bitsy has started to no what the word, "No" means.
She doesn't necessarily always understand it, but when she does she get's upset.
I have to say that she normally only cries when she is overly tired.
I am so blessed by a baby who is so happy so much of the time.
Today we started the process of breaking her habit of needing a bottle to go to sleep.
The first nap went SO smoothly.
The second nap, not so much.
In fact we had to make 2 different attempts to get her down for a 2nd nap.
The 2nd attempt yielded a crying baby, whom when I picked her up she literally just crashed on my shoulder.
She never falls asleep on me and this time she did.
Bedtime was pretty simple too.
I'm hoping that if we can get her to nap and go to bed without a bottle that'll mean we can slowly wean off her night feedings with as few of those sad faces as possible.
This month Bitsy flew for the 2nd time in her life.
She visited Texas....again!
She had her first babysitter.
She babbles, "Dadadadadadada"!
She has gone down to 2 naps a day.
She has developed a huge LOVE of all things Sesame St.
She waves, I'm not always sure if she knows why she's doing it, but it is so cute.
She 'dances' (aka flails her arms around when she hears the Puppets from Sesame St.)
She had her first of a handful of showers and she LOVED it.
She went swimming for the first time outdoors and LOVED it.
She's becoming very proficient at playing Peek-a-boo.
Oh! I almost forgot....she 'sings' worship at church.
As soon as the music gets going so does she!
*my heart is melting*
When I look at this beautiful face, and see those beautiful eyes I know she is just taking it all in.
She's so independent, just like me, and I love it so so so much.
Today we took Mr. Stubbs out of his cage and introduced him to Bitsy.
Officially.
We kept him a safe distance from her.
He was wary, but we aren't sure if that was because of Bitsy or because he hadn't been able to roam free since being in the house.
Bitsy thought he was great.
She 'danced' and reached towards Mr. Stubbs with a big smile.

I love watching her experience new things.
I love watching her with her Daddy.
And I love her, plain and simple.
She is our pride and joy and I am so thankful for her!

I hope you all had a Blessed Sunday!

  1. Hi Biz, I found your blog through Farmgirl Paints and I just have to say I have fallen in love. My baby girl was 8 months old yesterday also. It's so much fun to read about Bitsy, we have the same excitement going on at our house as our baby girl is starting to crawl too.

    Many blessings,
    Ashli
