What We Did...Weekend 1

As my luck would have it....we didn't really get to hit the ground running with our first "What We Did" weekend.
I had forgotten that Bud volunteered to work a beer tent at a concert an hour away as a fundraiser for work.  That being said he woke up at 2:55 am on Saturday morning and was picked up 3:30 am.  He did not return home until around 3 am Sunday morning.
Yes.
You read that correctly.
He was up for approximately 24 hours straight.
About 30 of the volunteers had cancelled and so not only were they short handed, but they were busy ALL day long.
So we skipped our attempts to search, yet again, for a new church home.
Instead Bud did a lot of this....
I had it all set up when he came home.
He clothes and toiletries were in the guest bathroom and the guest bed was all made up for him.
It's not that I didn't want to sleep next to my hubby, it's that I wanted him to get the best sleep he could.
If he slept by me he would have been woken each time I got up with Bitsy.
So he slept from 3-10:30 am and again from about 1:30-3:45ish (when Bitsy napped).
I had hoped we would have made it to the pottery festival in Sanford, but maybe next time around.
We did make a conscientious effort to at least get out and get some fresh air.
As a family we ventured out for a nice walk.
That's life though isn't it.
Sometimes we need a day or weekend when we don't do anything.  When instead we just rest and recover from our daily ins and outs.
So Bud recouped.
We ate bratwurst cooked on the stove instead of the grill.
I made cookies.
Life was and is good!
Bud was asked if he would volunteer this coming Saturday in South Carolina at the races, but he graciously declined.
He told the person asking that he promised me we would go for a hike.
*warms my heart*.
That person suggested we hit up Raven Rock State Park.
As luck would have it that is where I was already planning on us venturing off to.
So stay tuned next week as I tell you about our hiking adventures!
Adventures they will be too, as this will be a new task with a baby!

My goal in hosting these What We Did posts is that not only can I show you activities that are low budget, but that I can also encourage you to get out and do something as a family!
Being military means that we will get the luxury of visiting so many places and I want to show you that no matter where you are there is always something to do!
Try to get out there and do something and next Wednesday (if I can figure out how...I'll have a linky party!)

I hope you have a Blessed Wednesday!
