T-Shirt Make-over

I don't know how the weather is where you are, but it's still nice and toasty during the day here in NC!
That being said I predict at least a month of tank top weather still to come!

For this project you will need 1 t-shirt you don't mind cutting up.
Scissors
A Sewing Machine
Coordinating Thread

Step 1: Cut off sleeves
Cut straight across the top of your shirt, just below the collar.
It should look like this.
Now you will cut the binding off the bottom of your shirt.
This part you can discard.
As well as another small strip.
This will be the shoulder tie.
Take the small strip and pull it as tight as you can.
This will cause the edges to curl.
Being that it's fully stretched you won't have to worry about your finished shirt hanging lower after a few washings.
Let's get back to the top of the shirt.
Fold your edge over 1" pin and sew on both sides.
This is the pocket you will later feed your stretched strip through.
Take that stretched strip from earlier and cut it.
Using a safety pin on one end, feed it through your pocket.
Once you are done you have 2 options.
You can either tie the strap in a bow each time you wear the shirt...
Or you can sew it back together for a more permanent finish.
I opted for the later option.
I put my shirt on and figured where I'd like it to hang.
Then I pinned it and...
sewed the strap, cutting off any excess.
I feed the sewed section into the pocket so it would be hidden.
Guess what?!?!
Your done.
How simple was that?
From t-shirt to tank top in roughly 5 steps.
This project could literally take you about 15 minutes.
So go find a t-shirt and whip up your own!
If you do I want to see it!
