"Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God's Son does not have life." ~1 John 5:12
As Christians we are not only expected to believe the above scripture to be true, but we are also expected to help others realize its' truth.
Without accepting Jesus Christ as our savior we will not experience eternal life.
"For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life." ~John 3:16
That is a verse we learn early in our days as a Christian.
It is engrained in us.
But what does it mean?
What do both of these verses mean and how does it look to have the Son?
Inviting Him into your heart, going to the alter and accepting that he died for you, saying a prayer in solitude that you believe God sent his Son....
These are all possible and perfectly acceptable methods of accepting Christ as your Lord and Savior.
But this is not the end.
We don't get to simply confess our sins and go about our days thinking that is that.
In order to REALLY have the Son we must learn about the Son.
We must make time in our lives to commit to learning the word and then spreading the word.
Today after lunch with fellow Christians we had a time in which our new friends shared a popular verse with us that has stuck with me all day:
"Jesus came and told his disciples, "I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age." ~Matthew 28:18-20
This means that once we believe that Jesus is the Son and we have the Son we will always have the Son.
By acknowledging Him, we acknowledge that we must share Him.
I am guilty of not committing enough time to God on a daily basis.
I am guilty of not memorizing scripture, but rather making general comments such as, "Well what about that part in the Bible where it says such and such and so and so?"
I am confessing that I am not perfect in my walk.
I am asking that you join me as I try to work on my scripture memorization.
Over the next few weeks I'll continue to do Bible Verse Friday as normal.
What I will be doing differently, however, is every post after that (until the next BVF) will close with the verse that we are attempting to memorize that week.
Hopefully if we can see it more than once in a week, it'll help us to learn it and apply it.
As always if you have any prayer request you can leave your comments or send me a private email and I will pray over your requests.
I ask that you pray for me as I work on becoming a better vessel for God's love.
I hope that you all had a Blessed Friday!
This week's verse to memorize:
"Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God's Son does not have life." ~1 John 5:12

i love this post and it is so humbling to me...i have always struggled with hiding God's word in my heart...laziness and nothing more...every year my kids and i work on memory verses and they far exceed me! thanks for linking this up to fridays unfolded.
