Bad to Better

Bad to Better.  That basically describes the last 2 weeks in a nutshell.  There were a couple of emotional speed bumps I encountered last week that really shook me up.  I've never been one to hold onto negative feelings, but I know good and well that Satan was trying to attack me.  As last weekend came I decided to fill my life with a busy schedule to help me forget those negative feelings.
Saturday I had my last laser hair removal session, a free haircut, and my first wax!  Sunday we went to Church and then went to meet up with one of Bud's high school friends Oliver and his family that was visiting from Germany.  I even fit in time with other friends at a pool party that afternoon.  Monday we had dental appointments in the morning, I had a doctors appt in the afternoon, and that night we met friends at Barton Springs and I took my first plunge into the natural springs.  It was a balmy 68 degrees.........BRRRR!!!!  Tuesday night Bud was working at the IMAX which meant I got to go to see Inception, one word...AMAZING!  Wednesday we met up with another group of friends we know through ROTC.  Bud was asked to be a groomsman in one of their weddings come June 2011.  Thursdays we normally have small group, but this week was different.  We had a free night.  The groom to be came over to have dinner with us and we skyped with his fiance.  She asked me to be a bridesmaid!  Bud & I will be walking down the aisle again June 4, 2011!  I'm UBER excited.  This will be the 2nd time that we are both in the wedding party and it'll be the 3rd wedding besides my own that I'll be in!  Always a bridesmaid, already a bride!  Tonight we are going to meet yet another couple to play BINGO at the local Bingo Hall.  I know you can laugh it's an old person game, but believe it or not it can be a real hoot and semi-addictive.
So as you can see I made myself busy this week.  So busy that I mostly forgot those feelings that I had encountered the week before.  I'm not sure that I've completely worked through the emotions.  I'm still questioning a lot of my actions, even though Bud says he doesn't think I need to.  I'm going to keep praying for peace.  I'm going to keep praying for discernment in all I do.

On a side note--
I received my AS in Business Management in May.  I immediately registered to take ASL 3 this semester.  Tuesday I had it on my heart all day that maybe I should drop the class.  After Bud got home from work at 11:30pm and right as we were crawling into bed I mentioned to him that I wanted to talk about our plans for this coming semester.  I told him I didn't know if I wanted to take a class this fall.  It was amazing, because he immediately told me that he had been feeling the same way, but that he had decided to wait to see if I said anything.  He didn't want to influence my decision.  That is why I love my husband.  He knew that if I really wanted to take classes he would support me and that if I didn't he would back me there too.  I think he's really noticed how much I've enjoyed coming home from work each day to clean up and cook a home cooked meal!  I've enjoyed being able to spontaneously meet up with friends and not have to worry about homework.  This will be Bud's last year in school and our last year in Austin.  I don't want to miss anything and I want to be able to go to everything!  So Wednesday morning I logged into my school account and dropped my class.  I'll be readily available for anything this school year has to throw at us.  What a blessing!

Bridge City, TX or Bust!

Friday after work I rushed home as quick as I could to meet up with a friend who had driven down from Temple to pick me up.  We were en route to Bridge City, TX within 30 minutes of me walking in the door.  Our goal?  Hang out with a 3rd friend.  There are 4 of us.  My 4 sisters whom without them I don't know what I would do.  Making friends is probably one of the hardest tasks in this world.  I have lucked out because up until now I have had my 3 best friends since middle school!  Whenever, we get together it is a good thing.  It took us about 5 hours to get to Bridge City from Austin.  We stayed up late catching up and Saturday we putzed around like good friends do.  Waking up, getting ready, running some errands and ultimately helping friend of a friend celebrate her birthday by crossing the border to Louisiana!  We went to a casino where I lost $25, there is no shame in my game...or lack of game I guess I should say.  We hit up the BOOMING (haha) nightlife of Lake Charles and the found a bar with an actual band.  We witnessed an elderly couple on the dance floor and the older man was dancing to HIP HOP!!!  One of my fondest memories.  Arriving back to Texas late and bed even later we decided to sleep in a little and head to church at 10:30, post church and lunch at Tequila's and we were saying "goodbyes".  Back on the road and home in 4-1/2 hours I am almost shell shocked at how fast our fun little weekend flew by.
I'm rambling and to many this may not make any sense, but it's a reminder to me of how these mini-vacays can be worth more than words.  I learned this weekend that after 13 years of friendship we are still individuals.  We still have opposing viewpoints, we still think our answer is the right answer, and we still laugh like middle schoolers!  The only thing that has changed is that we love eachother more now than we did back then.  Our love for eachother is one that was given to us by God to unite us as sisters!

Blog Hopper

Sometimes on days when work is slow or it's a Friday like today & I don't want to start anything to big before the weekend I'll do what I like to call Blog Hop.  If you look at the top of the screen there are words like "Share" "Report Abuse" and my favorite "Next Blog>>".  I like to hit that link and see where I end up.  I've read about so many peoples lives this way.  I've read about people's struggles and people's joys.  I've read about relationships, parenting, crafting, and shopping.  Maybe it's intrusive to read people's blogs whom you don't know....Maybe that's why blogs are written.  It seems that if I click "Next Blog>>" enough times eventually I'll find what I'm looking for that day.  Most days it's someone writing about a trial in their life and how they are overcoming, how God is working in their life, how it DOES get better.  I by no means have it tough and I'm not going through anything particularly troubling right now, but for some reason reading that a complete stranger is getting through a hard time allows me the insight to realize that I can't complain, about anything.  A few weeks ago in Church the lesson was about learning to be content and it has really stuck with me.  Do I want a new vehicle, new clothes, or anything else....SURE!  But I have to realize that thus far God has provided for me in all my needs.

Matthew 6:25-27
"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

So, if reading other people's blogs helps me remember this than I'll be clicking "Next Blog>>" more often!

Being Domesticated

In the weeks since school got out & I received my Associates I have finally started to reaquaint myself with being a domesticated housewife.  Well I'm only half domesticated.  I still have to work 40 hours a week, but once home there is still cleaning & cooking that needs to be done.  I signed up with an awesome program called e-mealz!  Each Tuesday I get a menu for 5 days worth of dinners feeding 2-3 people (there a many different plans).  The menu is on one side along with the instructions for cooking the mean.  On the back in the grocery list for your store of choice (mine being Walmart) and it's seperated by section.  The best part is that it caters to the fact that I chose a low-fat meal plan (other options include low-carb, or regular, etc) and it keeps my grocery bill around $45 for those dinners!  I am so excited to learn how to cook again.  I won't lie though, it can be frustrating when it takes me longer to prepare dinner because I'm doing something for the first time, but we haven't had a meal we didn't like!

Also, starting this Sunday we will be taking in a AFA Student for 20 days.  This opportunity was presented to anyone who had room for him to stay.  Well it just so happens we have a fully furnished guest room and an extra bathroom that we rarely use.  It also prompted me to get some much needed organizing and purging done.  Sunday My husband and I took on the task of emptying the guest closet and throwing out junk, donating misc items and only placing the items we wanted to keep back in the closet!  The amazing part is that now there is 1/2 a closet this student can use to hang clothes.  I emptied drawers and now he has room for clothes in drawers.  It was a great feeling knowing we were getting STUFF out of our lives and preparing for next year.  Next year this time we should be in the process of moving or planning on moving.  So by organizing stuff now it'll make my life easier next year when the movers come.  No unnecessary junk is coming with us!

Domestication- I like it.  I can't wait to do it full time.  1 more year until I quit my civilian job and start the life of an Officer's Wife!
