Black High Heels

Today was a day that started out in a bathrobe & ended up with my black heels!  I woke up around 8:30 and by 9 I was cleaning like there was no tomorrow.  I vacuumed & mopped the entire house, did 3 loads of laundry, ran the dishwasher, made the bed, & straightened the living room.
Finally, at 11, I was able to walk over to Hobby Lobby.  Yes, walk.  I live 1/2 mile from Hobby Lobby...this is dangerous.  The benefit of walking is that I have to remind myself that I can only buy as much as I can carry home.  Today I was buying supplies for my Halloween Rag Wreath (pictures and tutorial to follow this week).   When I got home I decided it was a good day for French Toast for lunch...so that's exactly what I made.
Yummmmy!
The KSU game started at 2:30 so I started to watch that, but during the 3rd quarter I decided to snooze a bit.   I finally woke up at 5:15ish and watched the end of the 4th quarter.  Bud had come home and we fit in a full workout!  I did not want to work out today.  I almost justified my walk to Hobby Lobby as my workout, but I didn't.  When we got home we had Rosemary Pork Chops & Salad for dinner then we quickly got ready for our semi-date night.  Bud has a teacher who is in a band, if Bud goes to his teachers concert....it takes place of a paper Bud would have had to write.  Needless to say we got all dressed up and hit the town!  We went to a place called SpeakEasy & I had a virgin Mojito...tastes very much like a limeade!
Yummmmmy!
Bud looked handsome in his purple button up...I like to think he was wearing it in honor KSU's win today against UCLA!
How can you not love that smile!
I immediately regretted wearing heels tonight, because I still have a blister on my toe and heels did not help it one bit....
My favorite part was walking out of the bedroom and having Bud's jaw drop :)
I love that I can have that affect on him!
The music was awesome, they played Bud & I's song (Etta James- At Last) and some funk style music.  Everyone seemed to have fun and Bud now is free from 1 paper this semester.  Overall, a GREAT day and AWESOME night!  I'm off to bed now, we have to get up super early to drive out to a place called Enchanted Rock.  It's a 2 hour drive and we are going with JF & MS as a double date!  It should be a blast, a few hours of hiking (that WILL be tomorrows workout) and a picnic lunch...minus missing church it'll be a great day!  Have a blessed evening & I'll see ya'll Sunday night!

P.S. BIG NEWS!!!  One of my best friends got engaged on Friday!  I'm so excited for them.  It looks like they will be trying to get married before Bud & I move!  God is good!

Big Day

Today was a big day in our house!  After a busy day at work I rushed home to get myself ready.  I didn't get to do my 30 minute on the treadmill, but I'll get back to that.  When I got home there was a package for me!  It was my necklace I ordered from Farmgirl Paints, I follow her blog & love her pieces she designs.
I promise to get a better picture of the necklace!  It says surrender on it.  I'm using it to remind myself that I can't plan everything and that God's timing is perfect...so I must surrender all to him.
Tonight was a big for Bud.  If he was eligible to have a make a wish this would be it.  Tonight Bud got to sing the National Anthem at a sporting event.  Unfortunately, the flipcam was not cooperating so I didn't get video.  We have requested that if they are able that UT sends us a DVD of the event, cross your fingers!  Bud has an amazing voice, he is a vocal music minor.  I think the fact that he got to sing for a University of Texas Soccer game made it even more special.  It's awesome when people come up afterwards to tell him how well he did and I love how humble his is about his gifts.
That's my hubby singing (notice the camera man, Bud is famous...kinda)!  And the 2 cadets on the far right are part of Detachment 825 as well!  I'm so proud! :)
Afterwards we met up with a bunch of the AFROTC people for TGIF.  It's tradition that nearly every Friday a group of people from AFROTC go to eat somewhere or do something together.  It helps build morale and camaraderie.  Bud & I split a pasta dinner which was the perfect size!  While we were there JF & MS invited us to go 2-stepping at a place called the Broken Spoke.  We went and we had an absolute blast.  I can only 2-step for so long before my calves are yelling at me.  But back to not getting to do my 30 minutes on the treadmill....I may be cheating a little bit, but I'm counting my 2-stepping as my workout today.  Technically, I have still successfully completed 10 days of my 21 day challenge!  If you don't think I should consider my dancing as a workout...speak now or forever hold your peace!
At the Broken Spoke!  I dislike the cowboy hat, but Bud loves it so much.  I have to pick my battles, and this one isn't worth it!  I love you Bud!
It's time for bed now, It's been a long week & quite frankly I'm exhausted.  The plan is to sleep in (for me that means 8am) and see how tomorrow pans out, I'll see ya'll tomorrow!  Have a blessed evening!

Being Productive

Last night we ended up sitting at a friends apartment and catching up.  Upon arriving home we promptly fell into bed and passed out.  My alarm was set for 6:15 and I woke up with a start thinking I had to get ready for work.  Fortunately, before I could act on that thought I remembered it was Saturday, rolled over, and promptly went back to sleep.  Bud, however, woke up around 7:30 and had to leave the house at 8:40 for work.  I finally got up and spent too much time catching up on a blog I recently started following called Humble Pie.  I was admiring her ability to praise God through all things.  I was also envying her beautiful home.
Finally I got motivated to get cleaning.  This involved some seriously bold cleaning in the bedroom and living room.  My dogs love to lean against any and every wall and thus they leave marks on the walls.  So 3 magic erasers later the walls are spotless, I've vacuumed, dusted, started laundry, run to get Gas in the hubby's car, stopped at Target to get a couple candles and a replacement white v-neck t-shirt for myself, unloaded the dishwasher, and Facebook chatted with my brother (whose currently in Afghanistan), as well as Skyped with my Dad.  I still have a lot of little things to get done.  I need to mop the floors and sort through a mountain of paperwork.  Bud & I have decided to weed through our files and discard anything we no longer need (which I approximate will be 1/2 of the papers in the filing cabinet).  We'd really like to narrow all our files down to 1 drawer and 1 drawer only.  I have a number of other things on my list of to do's, but I felt good with what I accomplished thus far.
My Super Clean Bedroom!
In order to reward my hard work I set off to sit by the pool and read a few more sections out of Eat, Pray, Love.  I still have some reading to do but the time at the pool was relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable.
Perfection!
Now I'm showered and preparing to go the ZACH Theatre to see Metamorphoses at 8pm with a friend Rachel!  And no worries, the hubby will be fine, he is off at a Round Rock Express Baseball Game tonight with the guys.  Although I can't wait to get home to see him tonight it's always nice when we both have something fun going on!  I'll be sure to post how the play is and I hope everyone has a blessed night!

BARENAKED LADIES

That husband I married April 10, 2010....well he's pretty amazing!  Tuesday July 27th he needed me to get out of work at 2pm for a big surprise he had planned.  When he picked me up from work my makeup was in the back seat.  Upon questioning him about this he responded by telling me he had put it back there along with 2 outfits he picked out for me in the event I wanted to change or freshen up for that evening.  I was bewildered and stared blankly at him asking him was exactly was my surprise?  Finally he told me we were going to Dallas to have dinner with our friends that just got engaged.  Dallas is 3.5 hours from where we live and I still had work the next day.  Finally, he fessed up and told me that after Dinner we had concert tickets for the Barenaked Ladies.
**Story within a story**
During the spring I had bought myself a single ticket to see the Barenaked Ladies while they were in Austin.  Bud was supposed to be out of town that night and no one else had wanted to go.  I was deadset on going even if it was by myself.  Flashforward to Memorial Day and Bud is home, he didn't leave for a month as planned, and we are watching a war movie (Our tradition on Memorial Day).  After the movie I go to the fridge to grab all the bills I need to get paid the next day and there in the middle of them is my ticket for the Barenaked Ladies concert that had started over an hour ago.  I had missed the concert.  I had missed my chance to see my favorite band.  Needless to say there have been 2 full months of moping, especially when we watch "The Big Bang Theory" (the theme song is a Barenaked Ladies song).
*********************

So we get to Dallas at approx. 6pm and go to dinner with our friends at Outback Steakhouse.  At 7:15 we hurried over to the venue of the concert only to find a vacant parking lot.   Hmmm...that's strange, maybe Barenaked Ladies isn't as popular as I'd like to think.  There had been no mention of when the doors opened or if there were any covering acts.  Sure enough as we walked in Angel Taylor was opening.  She sang/played from 7:30-8pm.  We were ready for BNL.  at 8:15 Ben Kweller came on stage and played until 9.  Bud is nervous now because he had anticipated being on the road about now and getting me home at Midnight-ish.  Remember I have work tomorrow morning at 7:30.  Finally, at 9:30 pm BNL comes on the stage.  I'm excited, my husband is excited and we are both thinking the drive home is going to SUCK!  At 11 we decided to hit the road, I think they were playing their last song anyways.  At 2:15 am my husband calls my boss's work number and leaves her a message profusely apologizing for kidnapping me and that I'll be late to work the next day.  At 3 am we crawled into bed, exhausted and excited.  It had been a good night and I knew I wouldn't be to work until 11:30 that day.  I knew people at work would be upset I was late, but how often does your husband kidnap you to bring you to see your favorite band!

It was worth it........
