Bye Bye Spring Break

No matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow. ~Proverb

So this entire last week was spring break for me. When asked what I would be doing my typical response involved telling people that I'd get to go home after work instead of straight to school until 9 each night. The simplicity of going home after work is one that many people probably don't fully comprehend. I am set to graduate in May & even then I will continue taking Sign Language classes next fall, but for the first time in my life I won't HAVE to go to school if I don't want to. I was able to accomplish so much this week. Most importantly I was able to rest this week. Spring Break for many people I know still involves crazy parties, sunburns & late nights, and coming back to school more exhausted than you left it. In order to make my week off feel a little more worth while I decided to spend Saturday being crafty. I made my first rag wreath and now I have a beautiful wreath on the door & sore thumbs from pulling so many knots! Today, Sunday, was the last day & how did I spend it? I started my day at 8:30 making cookies, later I took a nap for a couple hours & then moved out to the couch with my husband to watch too much television & netflix. I finally decided I should vacuum & do a few loads of laundry while I loaded the dishwasher & prepped for the week. Overall it was the laziest day I can remember having in the past year as 13 hours after waking up I am still in the same pajamas as I woke up in! Heavenly!
The moral of this lesson is that I must remember to appreciate life each and every day. As spring rolls in and the warmer days approach I know that I'll feel a twinge of sadness spending my evenings in classrooms, but I'll just have to force myself to enjoy the fresh air & relax on the weekends to the fullest of my abilities! Only 8 weeks of school left, 5 weeks until one of my best friends wedding, 4 weeks until my husbands ROTC formal dining out & 3 weeks until a weekend in Dallas for another friends wedding! I'll be super busy the next few weeks, but at least I was anything but busy today!

Love & God Bless,

About Me

Hi! I'm Biz.  Let me start off by telling you how I got the name Biz.  My birth name is Elizabeth, however, when I was little and when people asked my name...instead of Elizabeth, it came out a bit more like E-biz-a-biz.  Thus Biz was born and has stuck with me ever since.  I was born into a military family, thus I have no real home town to speak of.  However, I did spend a great deal of my life in Kansas where I met and married the love of my life, Bud!  We moved to Austin after some prompting from God and were blessed greatly while we were there.  I found a wonderful job with the state and at night I went to school part-time to earn my Associates Degree in Business Management.  To answer a question that I am frequently asked, No.  No, I do not have plans to go back to school for my Bachelors anytime soon.  Getting my associates was a stopping point for me.  It allows me the ability to go back later, but at this stage in my life...as a full time stay at home mommy I don't feel I need a Bachelors.  That being said, now you all know that I am a stay at home mommy!  It's a job I've always wanted and I'm just so blessed to have a husband who wanted that for our family too.  In July my husband started his career and we moved to our first of many duty stations.  In September of 2011 we welcomed our first baby girl into this world and I have been loving each and every minute of mommy-hood since then.  Before I had Bitsy I used to fill any free time with crafting, but that has since slowed down a bit.  My main goal here in this blog is to document our lives as a military family.  I will craft when I have time, offer tutorials on DIY and cooking/baking, I'll offer book reviews, and share God's message in any way that he leads me to do so.  I believe that as long as I am busy I will be blessed, it has proven true in my past and I believe it will continue to do so.  I hope you enjoy learning a little bit about our family and I just want to say, "Thank You," in advance for stopping by!

Have a Blessed Day!

“There are two mistakes one can make along the road to truth...not going all the way, and not starting.”

Sometimes my biggest fault is my perfectionism.  I started the process of setting up this blog a few days ago and I'm only just now actually writing something.  Why?  Because I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to entertain, enlighten, evoke emotion, or explain myself well enough.  Well, I found the above quote and it's right!  The only way I will know the truth is if I start on the road to truth and continue down it and all it's entirety.

I'm a 25 year old woman.  I've been married to my highschool sweetheart for 6 years come April 10th.  I'll graduate with my associates in Business Administration this May and I'm completely content with that, despite the constant questioning by others,"Don't you want to finish"?  I work full time which doesn't leave a lot of time for hobbies after I finish my homework spend time with my husband.  When I can pursue my hobbies my main one is photography.  I have a great camera and enjoy taking pictures, but I hate the idea that I'm supposed to carry it with me wherever I go.  I'm not THAT kind of a photographer.  I have 2 dogs & 1 bearded dragon.  I have 3 best friends whom I've had since middle school.  They are my sisters and if I never made another friend for the rest of my life, as long as I have them my life is full!  I am who I am and I go on whims and try new things only to revert to old habits or distract myself with other new things.  I have a husband who loves me and he is the kindest, most understanding, honorable man I could have married.  He is my perfect match and I thank God daily for his blessings.  I'm a Christian.  My father-in-law likes to call my husband & I liberal Christians.  I think he calls us this in reference to our wearing jeans & flip flops to our concert like church services & having fish tattoos on our feet, if that's what he means, I'm okay with that!  I am Elizabeth and at a young age when asked my name I responded with, "E-biz-a-biz".  Biz is my nickname, I love it.  I love my (crazy, busy) life, my husband, my God & the future he has planned for me.  So I'm starting down the road to truth.  I'll blog about random happenings or readings or whatever else might come to mind and hopefully in doing so I'll be able to watch myself grow.

Bud & Bitsy Bio

Bud

Though born in Texas, the greatest country on earth, I was actually forced to live in Kansas for most of my life.  I actually liked it though.  I had a great childhood, a wonderful family and great friends.  I’ve wanted to be million different things growing up, but I never really narrowed it down.  In 2000, at 17 years old my parents allowed me to enlist in the Army Reserves.  I graduated high school in 2001 and kinda just floated along for a little while.  I worked with mentally challenged children, tried my hand at college (didn’t graduate), served on active duty, worked for the Army as a civilian and in that time still wasn’t sure what I wanted to do.  In 2004 I married my high school sweetheart and I’ve never regretted saying I do!!  After 6 very quick years I was done with the Army.  My grandfather (retired Air Force Master Sergeant) harassed me for years that I joined the Army and not the Air Force.  Well, I got the hint and Biz and I moved to Texas (long story of why we moved).  I joined the Air Force Reserves and did that for my first two years of college.  I pursued my Bachelor’s in History at Huston-Tillotson University with a minor in Music Performance.  While I earned my degree I also completed four years of Air Force ROTC at the University of Texas and then I commissioned and became a Logistics Readiness Officer (basically I handle the logistics of supply, aircraft operations, installation readiness, etc).  I am now working in a career that I plan to retire from someday and I’m truly proud to be a part of the world’s greatest Air Force. In 2011 I graduated college, received my commission as an officer, moved to my first active duty Air Force assignment and Biz and I had our first child!!  What a year that was.  I have been eternally blessed throughout my life and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for our future.  I hope you all have a blessed life as well!

Bitsy

In September of 2011 I was born.  I was 20 inches long and 8 lbs 4 oz.  I don’t know it yet, but my parents were lucky enough to plan for my birth.  They were married for 7 years and then they decided it was time for me to come into their lives.  God blessed them and I was born a very healthy baby girl.  I have a sneaking suspicion that I’m going to be a fast grower.  I hope they’re ready for that.  Well, I’ve got a roof over my head, plenty of fancy duds thanks to many wonderful people (family, friends and god parents) and all the breast milk I can drink.  I feel truly blessed and I hope you all are felling blessed as well!!
