Bob Your Head #25

Hey EVERYONE!
Can you believe it's already Wednesday?
I don't know where the days go anymore.
Well I have an announcement to make, nothing major, just a few changes around here.
This will be the last Bob Your Head Wednesday for a while, quite a while, maybe forever.
I'm just not feeling it anymore.
I talked with the hubby and asked for his suggestions on what I should do with Wednesdays from now on and would you believe that he had the perfect solution?
From now on Wednesdays will be all about somewhere we went and something we did.
What We Did Wednesday!

Now did you catch the other small change?
That means that after over 475 posts, the letter "B", will no longer dictate the title of my posts.
There will still be Bible Verse Fridays....and Book Reviews.
Mondays will be dedicated to Main Dishes.
Tuesdays will be Sweet Treats.
Wednesdays will be What We Did.
Thursdays will be Craft Time.
So the goal is to continue to post 5 times a week, 6 times when I have a book to review (psst...there will be a book review with a giveaway VERY soon!).
How do you all feel about this change?

Well to honor old tradition here is our last Bob Your Head song....
Dog Days Are Over.
I don't know what the song is really about.
The video is extremely odd.
But the song makes me want to get a move on!
I hope you enjoy!!!

Happiness, hit her like a train on a track

Coming towards her, stuck still no turning back

She hid around corners and she hid under beds

She killed it with kisses and from it she fled
With every bubble she sank with a drink
And washed it away down the kitchen sink

The dog days are over

The dog days are done

The horses are coming
So you better run

Run fast for your mother run fast for your father

Run for your children for your sisters and brothers

Leave all your love and your longing behind you
Can't carry it with you if you want to survive

The dog days are over

The dog days are done

Can you hear the horses
'Cause here they come

And I never wanted anything from you
Except everything you had
And what was left after that too. oh.

Happiness hit her like a bullet in the back

Struck from a great height

By someone who should know better than that

The dog days are over

The dog days are gone

Can you hear the horses
'Cause here they come

Run fast for your mother and fast for your father

Run for your children for your sisters and brothers

Leave all your love and your longing behind you
Can't carry it with you if you want to survive

The dog days are over

The dog days are gone

Can you hear the horses
'Cause here they come

The dog days are over

The dog days are gone

The horses are coming
so you better run

The dog days are over

The dog days are gone

The horses are coming
So you better run

Have a Blessed Wednesday!

Please excuse me while I go old school for a moment....

When I was younger this was my favorite Paula Abdul song.
Let me just say that hasn't changed.
I still LOVE this song.
What is an 'old' song that you love?

Just for kicks, here is another Paula song that always makes me want to dance

Enjoy!

I hope you had a Blessed Wednesday!

A few weeks ago one of you mentioned that anything Dave Matthews makes you think of summer or at least warmer weather.
I get that!
American Baby is one of my favorite Dave Matthews Band songs.
If there are hidden meanings in any of these songs I don't want to know.
I am just taking them for face value...I like the rhythm and overall sound!

Are you a Dave Matthews Band fan?
What is your favorite DMB song?

I hope you had a Blessed Wednesday!

I like the lyrics to this song.

If I told you things I did before
Told you how I used to be
Would you go along with someone like me?

If you knew my story word for word
Had all of my history
Would you go along with someone like me?

I did before and had my share
It didn't lead nowhere
I would go along with someone like you

It't doesn't matter what you did
Who you were hanging with
We could stick around and see this night through

And we don't care about the young folks
Talking 'bout the young style
And we don't care about the old folks
Talking 'bout the old style to

And we don't care about their own faults
Talkin' 'bout our own style
All we care 'bout is talking
Talking only me and you

Usually when things has gone this far
People tend to disappear
No one will surprise me unless you do

I can tell there's something goin' on
Hours seem to disappear
Everyone is leaving
I'm still with you

It doesn't matter what we do
Where we are going to
We can stick around and see this night through

And we don't care about the young folks
Talkin' 'bout the young style
And we don't care about the old folks
Talkin' 'bout the old style too

And we don't care about their own faults
Talkin' 'bout our own style
All we care 'bout is talking
Talking only me and you

And we don't care about the young folks
Talkin' 'bout the young style
And we don't care about the old folks
Talkin' 'bout the old style too

And we don't care about their own faults
Talkin' 'bout our own style
All we care 'bout is talking
Talking only me and you

Talking only me and you

They make me think.
If you all knew all the bad things I'd done in my life would you still want to know me?
If you knew all the faults I have would you still want to hang out with me?
Being a military brat and moving around a lot as a kid I had the opportunity to make friends over and over and over again all over the country.
The one thing that you become weary of as you get older though is how quickly you share yourself with others.
Seriously, kids are fearless.
They will tell their 'friends' everything!
It's precious and perfect.
Then one day your friend tells someone else your everything and you lose something.
Trust.
You start to worry what others think of you.
We all fall short.
Heck if you meet a perfect person take a picture...you probably just saw Jesus!
The point is that I think this song invokes in us a list of questions that we contemplate as we enter into friendships.

If I told you things I did before
Told you how I used to be
Would you go along with someone like me?

If you knew my story word for word
Had all of my history
Would you go along with someone like me?

And we don't care about their own faults
Talkin' 'bout our own style
All we care 'bout is talking
Talking only me and you

I know that I can answer yes to this for all of you.
I don't care who you were or what you did.
It's all in the past.
It's what makes you who you are and I feel blessed knowing each and everyone of you.
Enjoy the song!

I hope you had a Blessed Wednesday!

Is anyone else rejoicing at the warmer weather?
I know I am!
I got a sun burn on our daily walk yesterday.
That being said....I am looking forward to getting to the coast this summer.
I'm looking forward to sand and ocean air and au natural exfoliation!
This song just puts me in the mood to dance around....barefoot & happy!

Do you have any songs that make you think about the warmer weather?

I hope you had a Blessed Wednesday!

First off let me give a big shout out to Bitsy's Godparents!
It was because of them that we were introduced to the following group.
MINGO FISHTRAP

Subconsciously, that might be one reason we chose Bitsy's Godparents the way we did.
We knew that they know us in a different way than our family does.
We also know that should anything happen to us, they could at least keep her open to good music such as this.

Please go to iTunes and check them out!
If anything this group will get your toes a tapping...
your hips a swaying...
and your head a bobbing!

I hope you all have a Blessed Wednesday!

I think everyone I know has now ready The Hunger Games....
It comes out in theaters this week.
I wish I could go, but I'll be patiently waiting for it to come out on video.
(It's not really the kind of movie you can bring a baby too.  And I'm not ready for anyone to watch her just yet)
This song is from the soundtrack though...
I remember tears streaming down your faceWhen I said, I'll never let you goWhen all those shadows almost killed your lightI remember you said, Don't leave me here aloneBut all that's dead and gone and passed tonight...
Just close your eyesThe sun is going downYou'll be alrightNo one can hurt you nowCome morning lightYou and I'll be safe & sound...
Don't you dare look out your window darling;Everything's on fireThe war outside our door keeps raging onHold onto this lullabyEven when the music's gone, gone
Just close your eyesThe sun is going downYou'll be alrightNo one can hurt you now
Come morning lightYou and I'll be safe & sound...
Oooooo, Oooooo,Oooooo, OoooooLala... Lala...Lala... Lala...
Oooooo, OooOoo,Oooooo, OooOooLala... Oh Lala...
Just close your eyesYou'll be alrightCome morning light,You and I'll be safe & sound...
Oooooo, OoooOooo,Oooooo, OoooOooo,Oooooo, OoooOooo,Oooooo, OoooOooo,
Oooooo, OoooOooo,Oooooo, OoooOooo...

So just know that if you are going to see the movie in the theaters...I'm jealous.
Don't worry though.
I'll get over it!
I hope you enjoy this and the movie and if you haven't already...the books!

Have a Blessed Wednesday!

Do you need a song that just makes you want to dance today?
I heard this song and it made me giggle.
I frequently listen to the radio show from back 'home' (Austin),
and recently they interviewed Miss Carly Rae Jepsen and she was so cute!
So friendly.
Giggly.
Happy.
So naturally I like a song that makes me feel like dancing around while I clean house.

Excuse the topless man.
I don't make a habit of including videos with 'explicit' content.
I hope you enjoy this, if anything maybe it'll be a good one to add to your workout line-up.
Have a Blessed Wednesday!

Sometimes I need a reminder that HE is most important.
That the things of this world mean nothing.
This is a good song to do just that!

I may never be the one that gets a second glance
I may never be the one they call the prettiest
But that’s alright with me

And maybe I don’t follow every crazy passion
Spend all my time trying to get a good reaction
But that’s ok with me

This world is like a trampoline
High and low no in between
Jumping at the chance to please
Everyone but that’s not me

Cause all that matters is
All that matters is
I know your love has set me free
And that’s all that matters to me

[ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/a/addison_road/all_that_matters.html ]
Some people tell me to step out and do my own thing
And others say I got to blend in just to be the same
And stop being me

But this shallow world is no longer what I’m made of
I’ve been changed by grace
I’ve been saved by love
What more do I need

*All that matters is
All that matters is
I know your love has set me free
And that’s all that matters to me
(x2)*

My life comes from the One
Who made the stars and brought the sun
He loves me more than these
So I don’t need another identity

Cause all that matters is
All that matters is
I know your love has set me free
And that’s all that matters to me
(X2)

If you are like me, human, capable of making mistakes...it's only natural that from time to time we will let ourselves become part of this world.
I hope this song reminds you of the greatness waiting for us!

I hope you had a Blessed Wednesday!

Bob Your Head #16

This week I was scrolling through songs I've downloaded already to see what might be fun to share here this week.
Well here it is:
He Is We - Happily Ever After

Let me riddle you a ditty, it’s just an itty bitty, little thing on my mind.
About a boy and a girl, trying to take on the world one kiss at a time.
Now the funny thing about, ain’t a story without it, but the story is mine.
And I wish you could say, that it ended just fine.

We all want to know, how it ends.

Oh, happily ever after, wouldn’t you know, wouldn’t you know.
Oh, skip to the ending, who’d like to know, I’d like to know.
Author of the moment, can you tell me, do I end up, do I end up happy?

Inhale, breathe steady, exhale, like you’re ready, if you’re ready or not.
Just a boy and a girl trying to take on the world, and we want to get caught.
In the middle of a very happy ending, let’s see what we’ve got, let’s give it a shot.
Let’s give it a shot.

We all want to know, how it ends.

Oh, happily ever after, wouldn’t you know, wouldn’t you know.
Oh, skip to the ending, who’d like to know, I’d like to know.
Author of the moment, can you tell me, do I end up, do I end up happy?

We all have a story to tell.
Whether we whisper or yell.
We all have a story, of adolescence and all it’s glory.
We all have a story to tell.

Oh, happily ever after, wouldn’t you know, wouldn’t you know.
Oh, skip to the ending, who’d like to know, I’d like to know.
Author of the moment, can you tell me, do I end up, do I end up happy?

We all have a story to tell.
We all have a story to tell.
We all have a story to tell.
We all have a story to tell.

Maybe it's from reading The Hunger Games and wondering how it's all going to end...including the love story portion.
Maybe it's just from missing my hubby and waiting for him to get home in 2 weeks.
Either way...we all want to skip to the end at times and see how it ends!
I know that my story will have a happy ever after once I see Bud at the airport!
It's the waiting that has me running circles!

What story do you have to tell?
If you could skip to the end what would you hope to find the answer to?

Any songs that you'd like to suggest I look up for next week?

I hope you had a Blessed Wednesday!

After getting to see Bud Friday, Saturday, Sunday, & Monday...I just feel overwhelmed with a sense of how blessed I am.
So this week our song focuses on...focusing on the blessings.
What are you feeling blessed by today?

I hope you are having a Blessed Wednesday!

I'm so busted.
Or at least I will be once the hubby reads this post!
I LOVE The Fray.
In fact while we lived in Austin I had the luxury of seeing them not once, but twice in concert!
A lot of you will probably remember this song.
So why am I busted?
Because I downloaded their new album!!!
I shouldn't have, but did I mention that I LOVE The Fray?
If you didn't know they had a new album, here is the announcement!
It hit iTunes on February 7th and it's called Scars & Stories.
Go check it out!

I hope you had a Blessed Wednesday!

Bob Your Head #13

I'm feeling sentimental today.
I miss my hubby.
He told me that his ringtone for me is this song.
Our song.

When we were preparing for our wedding nearly 8 years ago we realized we didn't have a song.
After 2 years of dating...we didn't have a song that was OUR song.
So we started to think long and hard about what we wanted.
We wanted something classic.
We wanted something that might actually get played if we were out dancing or having a nice dinner.
Well...Etta James...we chose you!
I know we have lost this talented woman, but despite her being gone, her words live on.
And every time we hear this song, you will be remembered.
Thank you!

Do you have a song that is your song?
Or if you are with a special someone (spouse, significant other)...do you have an our song?
What is it?

I hope you had a Blessed Wednesday!

Bob Your Head #12

I woke up in an awesome mood today.
Why?
Because today is NEW PHONE day for our family!
Our Blackberries have started to die and our contract is up for renewal, thus it's time to upgrade phones.
What does that mean?
iPhone 4s!!!
I just put Bitsy down for a nap, but once she's up we are out the door to get our new phone :)
In the meantime I need to pass the time, quickly...so it's time for a new song to listen to.

Come on...who doesn't like a little Natasha Bedingfield in the morning?
What a good message.

"Everyday I fight for all my future somethings
A thousand little wars I have to choose between
I could spend a lifetime earning things I don't need
That's like chasing rainbows and coming home empty

And if you strip me, strip it all away
If you strip me, what would you find
If you strip me, strip it all away
I'll be alright

Take what you want steal my pride
Build me up or cut me down to size
Shut me out but I'll just scream
I'm only one voice in a million
But you ain't taking that from me
You ain't taking that from me
You ain't taking that from me
You ain't taking that from me
You ain't taking that!

I don't need a microphone yeah
To say what I've been thinking
My heart is like a loudspeaker
That's always on eleven

And if you strip me, strip it all away
If you strip me, what would you find
If you strip me, strip it all away
I'm still the same

Take what you want steal my pride
Build me up or cut me down to size
Shut me out but I'll just scream
I'm only one voice in a million
But you ain't taking that from me
You ain't taking that from me
You ain't taking that from me
You ain't taking that from me
You ain't taking that!

Cause when it all boils down at the end of the day
It's what you do and say that makes you who you are
Makes you think about, think about it doesn't it
Sometimes all it takes is one voice

Take what you want steal my pride
Build me up or cut me down to size
Shut me out but I'll just scream
I'm only one voice in a million
But you ain't taking that from me
You ain't taking that from me
You ain't taking that from me
You ain't taking that from me
You ain't taking that!

Think about this message today.
It's making me think...
"I could spend a lifetime earning things I don't need"...as I prepare to go get my new phone.
Silly me.
The real message though is that what we say matters.
Whether it be in our day to day encounters or just what we post on our blogs.
Our words hold strength and no one can take that away!

Have a Blessed Wednesday!

As a stay at home mom some days just seem to be repeats of the days prior.
Sometimes it feels like the movie groundhog's day.
I wouldn't trade it for anything, but there is something to be said about a break in the monotony.
Monday, Bitsy and I were blessed to get to go hang out with some other Mommies and Babies for lunch.
Yesterday we were able to get outside for a nice walk and we will probably be able to do the same again today.
But on the days when it seems like we have nothing 'new' to do...I like to play this song.
It puts a little pep in my step.

So if you don't know who OK Go is...here is an introduction to them.
If you already know who they are then here is just a fun reminder :)
We've been lucky enough to see them in concert and they are this much fun all the time!!!!
So do you have any songs you play to break up the monotony?
Feel free to share them here and maybe they will make an appearance in future Bob Your Head Wednesdays!

Have a Blessed Wednesday!

Maybe it's because it's cold outside and I need something that reminds me of warmer weather.
Maybe it was the sun popping out today.
Maybe it is just that I LOVE music that makes me feel like dancing.
OR Maybe it's because they kept playing this song every time they show previews for Royal Pains on TBS...
Regardless...this is the best song for me today!

I hope it makes you think of warmer weather, sunny days, hanging out with friend and family, and all the reasons to be happy each day!

I hope you had a Blessed Wednesday!

Can you believe that Christmas is Sunday?
This month has flown by.
What am I talking about, this year has flown by!

Well no matter how fast everything seems to be going this is a time when we need to slow down and remember the reason for the season.
There are some artists whose renditions of songs make them sound brand new.
In my opinion Josh Groban is one of those artists.
In this rendition of O Holy Night I am reminded that this is the time of year when we celebrate our Savior's birth.
I am reminded of the Son of God who was born in a manger to come and save all mankind.
Please sit back, press play, and take a moment to remember our savior, the reason for the season, and say a prayer of gratitude!

I hope you all have a Blessed Wendesday!

Christmas is almost here and in order to keep with the holiday spirit I thought I might share one of my favorite artist's rendition of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town".

Seriously, I LOVE Michael Buble's music.
Each generation we lose parts of what was...there used to be an entire era of music like the Rat Pack...but each year it seems less and less.
Thank you Michael for showing us that that music is still cool, still relevant, and still fun!

I hope you all have a blessed Wednesday!

Bob Your Head #7

It's another edition of Bob Your Head Wednesday and in our home we are officially accepting Christmas music as an acceptable form of music!
I don't like to hear Christmas music prior to Thanksgiving, but once that Turkey is served...play all the Christmas music you like!
One of my FAVORITE Christmas albums is *NSYNC's Home For Christmas.
It's a guilty pleasure.
I am openly admitting I loved *NSYNC and I went to a concert in middle school.
So without further adieu...I present Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays:

What are your favorite Christmas songs/artists?
Has anyone gotten the new Michael Buble Christmas album?
I have it and I'm pretty sure it'll be showing up at next week's Bob Your Head Wednesday!

I hope you have a Blessed Wednesday!
