Spring Wreath

If you haven't figured it out yet...I have a crazy love for wreaths.
Up until this wreath I've only made rag wreaths.
I saw a little Pinterest inspiration and decided to give our front door a new look.

Here is What You'll Need:
Grapevine wreath (this size ran 4.99)
*Don't forget to check if there is a coupon for your store that offers...say 40% off one item*
Some decorative filler branches.
I bought 2 at 3.99 a piece
You'll also need some scrap fabric, the amount is determinate of how many flowers and the size of flowers you want to add.
I used about 5 different types of fabric maybe 1/2 yd total altogether.
First you'll want to weave your decorative branches into the grapevine wreath.
Next you'll begin making your rosettes (tutorial found here)
A 44" x 1" strip of fabric will make a medium size flower...
if you finish that strip of fabric and add more you will get a nice large rosette.
You can also make smaller rosettes with less fabric, of course it's all up to you.
Once your rosette is completed cover the back with a nice heavy coating of hot glue and place it on your wreath.
Be cautious to watch for the excess glue.
It can drip down if you are not careful.
I liked to hold my rosette in place for about 20 seconds and then flip the wreath so that the wreath is putting the pressure on the rosette.
I let it lay like this until I am done making my next rosette and begin the process over again.

Mixing large and medium, and small flowers of varying fabrics can give it a more dynamic look.
I decided that the rosettes weren't enough so I purchased a wooden letter for about 1.99 and used some paint I had to get it to match.
Then I attached my letter with twist ties and hot glue.
(sorry I didn't get pictures of that process, but here it is in words)
-place letter where you would like it to sit on wreath.
-mark the spots that touch the wreath with marker.
-place globs of hot glue on those spots and then lay a twist tie in the glob.
-once it has cooled top with additional hot glue.
-once it's fully cooled you can position your letter and use the twist tie to wrap around the grapevine.
-after I secured the twist ties I covered each with additional hot glue to ensure it was there for good.
Here is the wreath in process...
I decided I wasn't quite content with it...so I made and added a few more rosettes.

The hubby loves it, I love it...I hope you love it.
If you make one of your own please come back and comment with a link so I can come take a look.
I'd love to see what variations you can come up with.

I hope you have a Blessed Thursday!
P.S. Don't forget to enter my giveaway!

  3. Oh my gosh - sometimes I think we're soul mate bloggers. My best friend asked me to make her a "summer door decoration with an H on it" for her birthday. Biz to the rescue!!
